I had a dispute over some inaccurate information that Equifax supposedley verified, but they did not do an actual investigation. I called Equifax 's customer service number and the employee said that Equifax is n't responsible for actually verifying information, they just send the dispute, and the " verification '' is done through -, in which all the creditor has to do is say their information is correct, and " that is good enough for them ''. - - Dictionary describes verification as " '' Confirmation of correctness, truth, or authenticity, by affidavit, oath, or deposition. Affidavit of truth of matter states an object of verification is to assure good faith in averments or statements of party. '' So in order for them to TRULY verify this account, they should be able to show me the sworn affidavit used to verify and the accompanying documentation as required pursuant to - - Dictionary which defines what " verification '' actually is. If not FDCPA 809b requires this to be deleted until they validate. I have requested validation and they have not produced it. So this should be deleted.
