Improper use of my credit report Report improperly shared by CRC Rhode Island
After some research on my part, it became apparent to me that an identity theft was facilitated by a security breech at Transunion Credit Bureau. On -/-/16 someone other than myself contacted Transunion on-line and received a free credit report, that was e-mailed to that identity thief. With the information obtained, - retail credit cards were subsequently opened or attempted to be opened at - ( through - - - - - ), at -, and at - -. ( I was contacted by - - - - - and - by phone on -/-/16. ) When I tried to get a free credit report from Transunion, I was denied because I had supposedly already received a free credit report recently. After multiple phone calls, I discovered that someone posing as myself had received a free credit report on -/-/16. After some more phone calls, I was unable to find out how this breech had occurred, where the credit report was sent ( they refused to give me the e-mail ), or any information about what my rights were, other than giving me an address to file a complaint.
