Citibank Credit card department,
On - -, 2016, I instructed Citibank to close a secured credit card that I had with them. At the time of the request, my account has a zero balance, and had not been used for close to two months. Subsequently, I received a letter dated - -, 2016 acknowledging my request. It stated that the account in question has been closed. What followed is the reason for my complain, because it stated that it will refund any credit balance within 90 days! It took them a day to close my account, they knew then and there that I owed them nothing, there were no pending charges. My question is why does Citibank confiscate my money, use it without compensating me for it. Why does it take more than a few days to return a deposit? Why are institutions such Citibank allowed to extort people 's money? It certainly would n't take that company that amount of time to take me to court, or at least have collection agencies hounding me, or better yet, report my account to all credit bureaus in order to wreck my credit. I contacted the company on - -, 2016, 15 days after, and I was told that I had to to wait - to six weeks from that date. The agent confirmed that he had no idea when the refund will be sent, so did his supervisor. It is clear that in the absence of regulation on the matter, each institution goes about its own way to swindle the consumers.
