-/-/-, I applied online for a credit card with Amazon, whose cards are provided by Chase. I was told I would receive an email once a decision had been made. I did not receive any decision email from either Amazon or Chase in response to my application, nor did I ever receive any communication through the regular mail. I contacted Chase directly by telephone today, -/-/-, and was informed that my application had been declined on -/-/- ( almost a month and a half prior ) due to insufficient credit history. When I inquired about appealing this decision, I was further informed that they only provide 30 days for a decision to be reconsidered. When I pointed out that I was never informed of their decision to be able to request reconsideration, the representative from Chase simply repeated that they provide only 30 days and if I am interested in a card with them, I must apply again


I have - complaints about my treatment and experience. First, that Chase violated the ECOA and the FCRA by not providing me with any notice at all of their decision to decline my credit application - not through email as was stated would happen, and not by regular mail. Second, I believe their conduct was unfair as defined by the Dodd-Frank act. Through their own failure to provide me notice in a timely fashion ( or any fashion at all ), Chase blocked me from participating in their own appeals process in a way that I could not have reasonably avoided. Additionally, the representative I spoke to stated explicitly that there was nobody else I could speak to about this problem and there was no way for me to lodge an appeal at this point.
