I received an American Express prepaid rewards card as a rebate for a purchase. When I made the purchase ( through - ) they indicated there would be a rebate ( $9.00 ), but not that the rebate would be in the form of a card. Therefore, no disclosure as to the cards fees or expiration date were made. When I received the card I noted an expiration date of -/-/-. No worries plenty of time to use the card. I went to use the card today. $0.00 balance. A call to Amer Express was made and the the Rep for Amer Express claimed that this card is not subject to ANY restrictions of fees and that they have charged me a fee each month until the balance was -.
I offered to let the matter pass if my card was reimbursed the $9.00. Rep refused. $9.00 is not much. But I reason that Amer Express is doing this as a business practice and it yields them -. Card # - - -
