JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit card department,
I recently and very proudly paid off my credit card balance on - - - $25000.00 with money I received from a retirement settlement ( - installment ). I double checked with a Chase Rep before making my pay-off to ensure there were no hidden fees, charges, etc. I was quoted the same amount as was showing on my Chase app balance. I know to do this after working at -. My payment was not due until - -. I made my payment online and received my confirmation e-mail. I went in to check the app on the following day and the balance read zero. What a relief! From here on out, I intended to only use the card for small purchases and pay off immediately. On - - which I figured would not be processed until after my payment, I made a small charge and another on the -. I paid them both off on the -. The app balance again read zero. We are renovating our home a bit with some of the money so instead of carrying cash to get home improvement supplies, I made a small charge on the - which I thought might have interest
charges was $600.00 and I planned to pay them yesterday. I asked Chase where this interest came from. They said it was on the balance I paid off between - - and - - when I paid off the balance. I told them that their staff quoted me the pay-off with interest and all pending charges. They refuse to budge or remove the charge. I told them I would pay the $600.00 or even interest on the $90.00 charge from the -, but I refuse to pay interest that they have decided to add after quoting me a pay-off. This is a problem with their staff and a very predatory way to treat customers. I have informed them that I will be reporting them. I have filed with the OCC. My response today was as follows : Thank you for taking the time to contact us in regards to the interest charged. your inquiry has reached the highest level. Your account was a revolving balance which is charged interest daily. Therefore you were charged interest on the average daily balance carried from -/-/16 until paid in full on -/-/16. As this interest charge is valid, we are unable to credit it. As long as you pay your previous statement balance in full by the due date, no further interest will be charged. I apologize for the frustration caused. It is not my fault that they did not include this amount. I asked for a pay-off that included everything and paid it all. My money is hard earned, and they are a big bank trying to squeeze every dime that they can out of consumers.
