Medical Disclosure verification of debt Right to dispute notice not received Tennessee

Due to an insurance mix-up a medical bill got turned over to a collection company without my knowledge. I was doing an annual credit check when I found it on my credit report. I called - to find out what it was about. I told her that I had never received anything in writing about this collection notice. She told me that they made several calls. Because I get so many spam calls I do not answer unless I know the caller. They can leave a message and I will respond if it is legitimate. IF they left a message it was too non-specific for me to consider it anything other then another spam - like the IRS one going around. But again, I NEVER received a collection notice.
