Sometime in - I applied for a Barclay - - card. For some reason I was initially declined, which was very confusing to me because I had never been denied credit so I called them. They explained that for some reason a credit check was never made and the CSR pulled my credit ( after asking my permission ) and approved me for the credit card. This was around - -. I received my card and put some expenses on it. This card had a signup bonus and I nearly reached the spending threshold with this first bill. Then, for a reason that BARCLAY REFUSES TO E-PLAIN, they cancelled my card. Noone will explain why my card was shut down but I believe this was because it was an easy way to save them the $440.00 signup bonus ( which they claim I 've forfeited because they 've shut me down. ) This is total -. While I understand that they have the right to choose who they allow to have their card, they have no right to bait me to sign up for credit ( causing an inquiry on my credit report ) only to immediately shut me down without explanation and to seize my points. These points are as good as cash so I view this as they stole from me!
