US Bank Visa Cash Rewards Credit Card The above card was automatically issued to me after US Bank acquired Citizens Financial Group. I had no interest in this card in the first place and as a result NEVER used it. I opted out of paper statements, as I thought it was wasteful constantly receive monthly statements showing a $0.00 balance. -/-/2016 I received a notice from US Bank that my account had a small balance and was past due. I opened a fraud investigation and the findings were clear - this was a fraudulent charge. US Bank reversed the late fees and closed the fraud claim. I was assured that the late payment would not be reported to the credit bureaus since the one and only late payment was associated with a fraudulent charge. US Bank DID report this late payment, despite what they said, and my credit score dropped from a rating of excellent to the the low side of good. The fraud department at US Bank dropped the ball and now I 'm being told that onus is on me to open disputes with the credit bureaus. I will dispute the late payment blemish on my credit report, but this is completely UNACCEPTABLE. US Bank should be held responsible for their error and they should be working to reverse this late payment ding instead of putting the burden on the consumer.
