I opened an Best Buy Citi - card in - -, 2016 with the understanding that I had a 0 % promotional balance for 12 months. I was keeping a balance on the card because of the promotional rate and used the card to buy a computer from Best Buy. A few months later I used the card at a non-Best Buy store. I received a bill after that which charged me interest. I called the company wondering about why I was being charged interest and they told me it was from the non-Best Buy purchase.
I paid the other purchases off with $700.00. which I was told more than covered the amount. I confirmed with them that I would not be charged additional interest after that because I wanted to make sure that the next bill would not have interest on it. I just received the new bill and they charged interest on it. When I called Best Buy Citi Visa, they told me they could not remove the interest. I escalated it, and still nothing could be done. I asked for any surveys to give feedback, and there was none. I asked to escalate further, and there was no one. I was so frustrated with the customer service, marketing, and communication that I closed the card immediately because I could not trust it. When I closed it, it was the same person, so there were no checks and balances to allow me to give feedback. I have felt very mislead about how the card is being represented and am very concerned about the internal process surrounding Best Buy Credit Services. It appears to be to purposely misleading about the interest rate conditions and fees so that we will be forced to pay the interest if we keep the card. I will not trust Best Buy and it 's partnership with Citi after this experience. I am also very weary of any Citi cards from this point on.
