Credit line increase hard pull On -/-/16. I used the online service to request a credit line increase for my Walmart credit card. Upon doing so, I received an automatic electronic message indicating " unable to process online credit increase for this account ''. I contacted customer service, who failed to inform me that requesting a credit line increase via telephone will result in a hard pull. The representative only asked for my annual income and amount of increase ( how much ), then immediately processed my request. I was denied. He said I would receive a denial letter via mail within 7 days. Thus, I inquired if my request was a hard or soft pull based on the fact I did not regard the credit request as an actual application process and I was not advised beforehand by the representative so that I may opt out of my request. I immediately expressed my concerns regarding his lack of providing adequate and appropriate customer service relating to credit limit requests.
