ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RE : CFPB COMPLAINT # - Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Yesterday, -/-/-, I submitted a complaint regarding Union Bank. I wanted to add for your records that I have had - major problems with this bank : 1 ) - - - an unscrupulous debt collector, - -, an attorney in -, -, called me repeatedly at work over a very old credit card debt. In order to stop this harassment at my workplace, I very unwisely agreed to have $ -/month payments taken out of my checking account. The original credit card debt was about $500.00. Sure enough, - office took withdrawals of $500.00 here, $300.00 there, another $500.00 there, etc. My bank account, much to my dismay, was completely cleaned out by -/-/-. At least - or - checks bounced. My brother-in-law and I then met with a Union Bank officer, - -, in the -, - office in - -. I filed a claim with the bank, and said I had only agreed to $100.00 per month deductions to -. The Risk Management/Loss Prevention department at Union Bank headquarters in -, - denied my claim, however, as they said I had an oral agreement
It was an extremely painful lesson. I did file an online complaint with the Attorney General of the State of -, but I never heard anything back. 2 ) - - - - - - I received a new chip and pin debit card from Union Bank -/-/-. The card did not work, however. My purchases were denied, and my automatic payments to - - on -/-/- and -/-/- were also denied, which caused my auto insurance to be canceled twice. ( I pay the insurance on my car, and also on my mom 's car. ) I was then sent a second chip and pin card ... that card did not work either. I actually went five weeks without any kind of a working bank debit card. Finally, the president of Union Bank, in the -, - office, helped me resolve the problem. He had heard about my continued bank card problems through the Union Bank customer service center and/or the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ; the bank president then had a new chip and pin card sent to me via overnight mail in - -. I did appreciate his assistance, as well as the CFPB 's assistance, with the matter, and decided not to change banks. - ) - - - I discovered that excessive checking account fees had been charged. I was never notified in advance of a $30.00 per month bank charge for " having a low checking account balance. '' Please see CFPB complaint # -. The third time is not really the charm with Union Bank ; however, before I switch banks, I would like to hear Union Bank 's response.
