Amex Credit Card Complaint

I was contacted by the American Express representative, - -. When I returned his call in - 2016, - - asked if I wanted to continue with American Express after the American Express - program expired. I said I was not interested, but - - noted that one of the benefits of the American Express Business Gold card he offered was that it included primary insurance coverage for car rentals and that the first year of the card use would be free. I accepted the card based on these benefits. When the card arrived, the paperwork indicated that the car rental insurance coverage with this card was only secondary. I immediately called American Express to understand why there was a difference and if I could get the insurance coverage that was promised. American Express said they would resolve this issue within 6 to 8 weeks. After 2 months went by, I called American Express to find out if there was any resolution. At that time they offered to sell me primary car rental insurance for an additional fee. I told them that I was only interested in the original offer in which the primary car rental insurance was included at

went by and I did not receive a call back from American Express. I feel that - - falsely represented the card benefits in the initial sales call so that I would continue as an American Express customer. It appears that American Express has no interest in resolving this discrepancy. At this point, I feel that it is in my best interest to cancel this account to avoid paying a renewal fee for this card.
