Closing/Cancelling account Arizona

This complaint is being filed against American Express Corporation 's handling of my account during the transition from AmEx 's - True Earnings card to - - 's - card. To effect the transition AmEx was to transfer the accounts to - -. On - - AmEx sent a letter that my account would not be transferred and I would be issued an - - card from AmEx instead. No reason was given for not transferring the account. ( Copy of - AmEx letter attached. ) - confirmed that the account had not been transferred. Contacted AmEx and was initially told that - had refused to accept my account. When I asked for documentation from AmEx that - rejected my account, the response was that the documentation had to be subpoenaed. Re-contacted - who vehemently denied that the account was rejected. Called AmEx back only to be told by another AmEx employee that the transfer was not rejected by - and that AmEx wanted to keep their " high value '' customers and unilaterally made the decision to not transfer those accounts to -.


FICO score. The fact that AmEx never did reveal the real reason the account was not transferred and then attempted to provide erroneous information as to the reasons why leads one to the conclusion that this could be a " gray '' area in consumer financial protection. The bottom line is that AmEx eliminated my options without my permission, This appears to be a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
