Wells Fargo & Company Credit card department,
I received a letter on - - that was dated from - - from Wells Fargo. It stated, " we reviewed and found an unusual volume of purchases and/or payments made using this card. '' And it continued to say, " if it continues beyond the receipt of this notice we will close your account and your rewards balance will be forfeited. '' I completely stopped using the card altogether. At this point, I had $3500.00 in rewards that were earned during this billing cycle and I did not want to risk losing them so I did not use the card again. My credit card balance was more than $24000.00 at this time with a total limit of $25000.00. I was basically maxed out and absolutely needed to make a payment so I did not risk adverse action from other creditors if I allowed the total balance of $24000.00 to report on my credit reports. So I made a payment to get the balance down and this payment was the only activity on the card after receiving the letter. Wells Fargo closed my account anyway and I received a letter dated - that stated, " per the warning notice we sent, we closed your account on -. You can no longer make transactions with this account and your rewards balance has been forfeited '' Wells Fargo clawed back rewards that I earned legitimately after sending out a warning letter, to which I obeyed, and cited the warning letter as the reasoning behind the closure. I have read some of Wells Fargo 's responses to other complaints and Wells Fargo does not need to inform me that my CURRENT rewards balance is $0.00. I know that it is $0.00 as of today. It was $3500.00 before my account was closed and Wells Fargo forfeited them.
