I was living in a suburb of -, - ( - ), and -/-/-, my step-father took a new job within the - at an - in -. I was a Chase customer while in - and in the - -, but - does not contain any Chase locations. Therefore, I had to close my account with a - balance. I completed this at the branch located at - - - - in -. The manager, from whom I had been getting cashier 's checks for the past few months to pay my rent, personally closed out my account, stood, shook my hand, and said he was sad to see me go. I said back to him that I would stay a Chase customer if they had branches located in the area of - in which I was moving to. Now, a few years later -/-/-, I 've moved back into the service area of a Chase bank ( suburban - - ), and when I went to open a checking account, I was told that I owed just over $80.00, which had to be paid off first, after which I could open up an account. I did not know about this supposed debt ( or else it would 've shown up on my credit report that I monitor constantly ), and I would think Chase would use another mechanism to block me from opening a new checking account between -/-/- and -/-/-, which I did with - - - -.
