American Express had a - Membership Rewards bonus for a new AME- Platinum Card. I have had numerous AME- cards over the years so I believed I only had the Business version of this card. I asked on their live chat and I was given the list of previous cards, this personal Platinum Card was not on this provided list. I even asked him to verify before I applied, he assured me I never had this card. After charging over - on the card I was told online that I indeed had the card. I asked him to pull the chat and he said the agent made a mistake. The classic issue here is that AME- can tell you when you apply that you do not qualify, instead they let you get the card issued, make your spend, and then are told by AME- you do not qualify. These IT systems are smart enough to know if you qualify at application. This AME- process is flawed and in many ways fraudulent. This company needs to address this issue, none of the other major banks, including - and - are so deceptive.
