Amex Credit card department,
Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement Illinois
I have an American Express credit card before, during I travel out of the U.S., someone stole my credit card information and use my credit card in U.S. After I found the fraud transactions, I reported to American Express . However, they just blocked my account and finally sold to a debt collector. This has great impact in my credit report. I called them so that we can resolve the problem, but they just asked me to call the debt collector. When I called the debt collector and told them the situation, they ask me to call American Express. Then I called American Express again and wanted to negotiate with them, but they refused, and they keep asking me to call the debt collector. When I try to call the debt collector again, they never pick up my phone. Again, I call American Express, they still keep asking me to call debt collector.
Second, after I reported fraud transactions to them, they fail to handle this problem, instead, they just blocked my account. Third, American Express locked my account and sold it to the debt collector without contact me. ( they did not contact me, they even did not send me an email ) Fourth, I called them to resolve the problem, but they refused to negotiate with me. They keep asking me to call the debt collector. When I told them I can not reach the debt collector, they refused to solve my problem.
