Amex Credit Card Complaint

Advertising and marketing

Amex Credit card department,

Advertising and marketing California

I applied for a - business credit card for my business a few months ago. The promotional material stated that if I achieved the spend requirement that I would be given a reward of $500.00 balance statement credit. This balance statement credit was never rewarded to me. On contacting American Express I was told that since I had opened another simply cash business credit card for a different business in the last 12 months I did not qualify for a reward credit. Nowhere in the promotional material did it state this and when I asked American express to confirm this, they also stated that this was not stated anywhere on the promotional material. They come up with an excuse that this disclosure is made on the online application. I do not remember seeing any such disclosure on the online application. When asked to present proof of online disclosure they provided none. I have the promotional material with me and the promotional material is basically also a paper application. So does this mean that people who mail in their application do not receive such a disclosure? Because American express clearly stated that the disclosure is not on the paper application/promotional material, which I still retain a copy of!!! There it is in black and white, the application does not contain any such disclosure, I challenge American express to find it and show me where it is!! If any attorney is reading this please contact me, I think we have an airtight case against American Express using misleading or false advertising. I also lost $200.00 in credit card fees trying to achieve the spend requirement so that I would qualify for the $500.00 bonus!!!
