Unable to get credit report/credit score Problem getting my free annual report Illinois
I attempted to obtain my free annual credit report from Equifax. I provided all of the essential information that Equifax requested. They replied that I would have to submit sensitive personal documents through the US Mail to them before they would further consider my request. First, if I have to spend money for postage that does n't sound like a free report to me. Additionally, a private company could give the same information that I gave and instantaneously receive back the same report without question. I then opened a dispute calmly stating that I would be contacting the FTC should they not comply. They responded back that I would either have to telephone or contact them by mail to obtain my free report. I even gave them additional time to complete my request before filing this complaint today, so they had a chance to make this right and knew that I might involve the FTC - and they blew it off anyway. Why? Maybe because they think the rules do n't apply to them. Trying to obtain something that is supposed to free online with no strings attached should n't include an ordinary citizen having to jump through bureaucratic hoops just because they 're not a big company. I 'm glad I fought back even though they may retaliate against me because it 's time to stand up for our legal rights.
