Amex Credit card department,
Applied and received the American Express Blue Cash Preferred Card. Amex charged me the annual fee of $75.00 upfront on -/-/15. I read and re-read the terms and conditions before applying and thought they would charge me the fee after a year using the card. Why would you pay for services you have n't even received? It did n't make sense. I again re-read the TOC and it never states when the fee would be charged. When I contacted them about this they repeatedly told me it was in their disclosures that they charge this fee in the first month. I asked where and spent a few hours with Amex reps falsely explaining that it says that the annual fee was due the first month. After considerable time, they finally agreed with me that the TOC do n't state when the annual fee gets charged but would n't negotiate on refunding or changing the timing. Eventually, I paid the fee. After a while, I cancelled the card and hope it did n't hurt my credit by closing the account.
