I have a - Bank - - credit card. I received a direct mail flyer over a year ago inviting me to apply for a - Bank - American Express credit card with a $49.00 annual fee. In the flyer, it said that I would receive a $49.00 " relationship bonus '' to offset the annual fee if I had any other qualifying - Bank products, including another - Bank credit card. So I signed up. After I was charged the annual fee -, I called to inquire about the relationship bonus and was told that other - Bank credit cards were not eligible for this bonus - only checking accounts and other products. In -, I received the same flyer inviting me to apply for the - Bank - American Express card ( their system must not have excluded me ) and it clearly states that a qualifying - Bank product for the $49.00 relationship bonus may include a " - Bank-issued credit card. '' I called again today and was told that the card member agreement says that other - Bank credit cards are not eligible for the bonus. This is a problem - their card member agreement does not match their marketing. I would not have signed up for this card if I thought I would be charged an annual fee.
