Amex Credit card department,
Unsolicited issuance of credit card New York
I have recently received a letter from - - credit card stating that they will be dissolving their relationship with - ( I currently hold the AME- - credit card ). They informed me that the account will automatically be converted to a - - -. I called AME- and asked that they " do not '' transfer any of my personal data or information to another financial entity ( - in particular ). After speaking with various people at AME- ( including supervisor - ), they informed me that the only way to stop the automatic transfer and the opening of the new account was for me to cancel my AME- card before - -, 2016. I explained to them that by " me '' cancelling my card, this would effect my credit report negatively. And as this action, the dissolving of the relationship between AME- and -, is not of my personal doing, this should not effect me negatively. I asked AME- to take the action from their side, and close accounts that do not want any transfer of data/information, and they said this was not possible. This situation is quite unbelievable to me, especially in this era of information confidentiality. The consumer is being forced to accept these conditions unilaterally, one would always expect " opt out '' clauses in these situations. Please do all you can to stop this unacceptable practice. Thank you.
