(CD) Certificate of deposit Account opening, closing, or management Florida
In preparation to moving to -, I wanted to move IRA funds from my mutual fund company to an IRA CD at Synchrony Bank. It was only during my third phone inquiy, I was informed that Synchrony would freeze my account and even close the account if I switched my address to -. No where on the company 's website was this disclosed nor was it revealed in my first few calls to the company where I was assured switching residency to - would not be a problem. I learned only that it was not possible to maintain an account from outside the US when I asked how to go about naming my spouse, a - -, as my beneficiary. I felt the specialists were confused about the issue in general and, since I have opened up other IRAs at other banks with receiving the OK of having a - mailing address, I felt Synchrony Bank own lack of disclosure of its policy not to maintain account relationships with non-residents
cost and effort to comply with law, rather than the law itself. I do n't mind if Synchrony Bank does not want to maintain an account with a non-resident of the US but the bank should disclose that accounts are in jeopardy if an account holder moves out of the country or at least train all its call center personnel to disclose that. I am a US citizen with a US social security number and wanted to move about $88000.00 to the bank.
