PayPal Holdings, Inc. Credit card department,
Unsolicited issuance of credit card Georgia
I had used PayPal for many years for online purchases and payments for my kids ' activities, etc. Paypal charges always went to a credit card that I had set as my default payment. Last year sometime, unbeknowst to me, Paypal opened a " PayPal Credit '' account and put a $60.00 charge made by my wife onto that credit account rather than to the card I had specified. They did not bill me for the amount until several months later, at which point late fees and interest had driven the balance over $100.00. I called and was assured the late fees would be removed and that if I just paid $64.00 for the balance and interest, that would square things. I closed the account and sent them the money. Now, several months later, I received another bill for $130.00 for late charges and interest accumulated on top of late charges. I called them and they refused to waive the fees. I never authorized the account. I paid for what my wife bought plus usurious interst ( $4.00 on a $60.00 balance for a few months ). They cashed the check. I do n't owe them any money, but they continue to demand that I pay, having referred my account to collections. Their practices are deceptive and/or fraufulent.
