Citibank Prepaid card department,
General purpose card Unauthorized transactions/trans. issues California
Citi bank issued a promotional VISA card to me and I have about $50.00 left on the card. Citi is saying that the card has expired after 6 months and it has no contact information on the card so I could inquire about the balance. After doing an internet search to try and contact them ( since information was not provided on the card ), I found that their website states that, " The Citi Prepaid Card expires after 12 months from the issue date. '' The card was issued to me on -/-/-, so even according to their website, I should be able to finish using my card. I feel that this is in violation of the Credit Card Act of -/-/-, under Title IV on Gift Cards, where the law states that : " the expiration date is not earlier than 5 years after the date on which the gift certificate was issued, or the date on which card funds were last loaded to a store gift card or general-use prepaid card. '' I feel that they are in further violation of this Act by not providing contact information on the back of the card in order to obtain further information and by not posting accurate information about this account online for public viewing. I attempted to contact them ( on -/-/- about - AM PST ) to rectify the situation and they refused any type of satisfaction.
