Amex Credit card department,
I recently paid in full my Amex - card balance in full on -/-/-, 3 days before it was do. Total statement amount due $3400.00. Then, I received a new statement saying I owed $20.00 for interest on purchases. My account was closed by Amex -/-/-. So, I could not make any purchases at all. Further down the statement it shows interest charge calculation on purchase from -/-/- to no date at 10.49 % and subject balance of $2300.00 for a total of $20.00 in interest charges. I have come to find out after calling Amex about this, its called trailing interest fee 's. My problem here is that the statement does n't tell you each month that you have a trailing interest balance of a certain amount and they just listed on my final statement as the interest charge on purchases not trailing interest on your account because you did n't pay the balance in full each month. This is clear deception by Amex against its Cardholders.
