Citibank Credit card department,
In - of - I availed myself of a - % balance transfer offer from Citibank which would come due on -/-/-. In - of - I received my statement which was due on -/-/- and I paid my entire balance due ( which included a the balance of the transfer offer ). I made additional purchases on my credit account on - - ( which would be my - billing date. Although I paid my entire balance in full as of the due date, Citibank applied my payment in full of my - statement to the purchases made AFTER the statement generation thus leaving me a balance on the transfer offer subject to interest. They claim the " government '' requires them to do this, however, as the consumer IT IS MY MONEY. It was my intention to pay my entire billed balance as of my - statement in FULL which included the balance transfer offer and NOT my UNBILLED charges for the - period. If an account is paid in full during a statement period the charges INCLUDED in that statement should be satisfied and the - charges for the next statement period are the ones that should remain on the account. As the consumer I should be in control of the funds applied to my account NOT the bank. If a payment greater than the minimum is made the CONSUMER should have the right to direct those funds to the balance NOT the bank/government. The bank or the government SHOULD NOT be making these decisions for me. I should maintain the right to pay off the debt that I CHOOSE.
