Amex Credit card department,
A charge posted on my account in the last billing period that I did n't authorize. The charge came from a merchant whose services are pushed on me through mail marketing by the credit card company. I called the merchant and did get the charge reimbursed. I also called the credit card company and voiced my concern regarding a charge that was unauthorized and came from a merchant that is frequently marketed on me by them ( being the credit card company ). The credit card company offered to block the merchant and look into any wrong doing on the merchant side. The service associate told me that the credit card company did own the merchant company at one time. I now have the credit card company reviewing any wrong doing by the merchant. My question is, who will check on the credit card company for any wrong doing? Normally, I would not be that concerned about a charge dispute, but in this case, I am very concerned that the credit card company is not treating my information in a secure manner. I have had no dealings with the merchant ( that I can remember ) but yet they were still able to acquire my credit card information to charge it. I would like the credit card company to answer the question of, how did the merchant get me " secure '' credit card information?
