I qualified for a HARP refinance and used it in - - without being made aware that it was this was a one time deal. I was trying to get relief from the problem created in - when it was issued at origination as an - split. The reason I wanted refinance was to both get a lower rate and combine the - loans but, my lender did not combine the loans and made me feel like it was to only chance I had to refinance. The second mortgage ( with a different lender ) is an interest-only loan with very poor terms that has a balloon payment coming due in 5 years and I am deeply concerned that I will not be able to cover that payment. I have tried to work with this lender to restructure to pay more principal but because I have been making payments, my negotiations have been in vain. Now my credit score is dismal form trying to make ends meet after experiencing a 50 % reduction in pay since -.
