I was hospitalized for a life threatening condition. When I checked into the hospital I provided my VA information and VA card. When I checked out 8 days later I again provided my VA card and information. All bills were to be submitted to the VA within 90 days of discharge. - - - failed to do so and instead waited until late - to submit the bill to the VA. As the VA Voucher was closed after 90 days the VA rejected the bill and informed me that, due to - failure to exercise due diligence in their billing practice neither the VA nor I were liable for the bill. I am a - vet ( service connected ) and live on my Social Security. I have no means to pay a bill that should have been submitted properly to receive payment from the VA.
