I called Southeast Toyota Finance to arrange for the turn in of my leased - -. I was given a payoff quote and had that money immediately withdrawn from my bank account which they were able to do since payments were automatically debited from the account. That was on - - so at that point my balance was - and that transaction was immediately reflected in my - account. On Monday, - -, another payment was withdrawn from my account because in the process of closing they had not stopped the automatic debit. I called today - - and was told that I had to prove to them that the transaction had cleared by sending a complete end of month bank statement. How ridiculous! I bank online, they take my money online, and they want me to wait till the end of the month and fax them a paper end of month statement which I print online to prove that they have my money which they can find out just as easily as I found out about the error looking at my account online. This whole situation is absurd. They actually had the nerve to tell me that I should have stopped automatic payments but when I told them that I just had done that online they told me that my online action had no effect until they took action. Well, obviously they are in no hurry to take action in stopping erroneous debits to my account. They took my money in error, they know that they took my money and they want me to prove it????? I have attached a copy of a screen dump of my account ( which they said is not adequate proof! ) showing the payoff payment and the overpayment.
