I went to my local credit union and applied for a checking account. I was denied for a traditional checking account and was offered a - chance checking account. Once you have had the checking account active for 12 months you can request a review to be considered for a regular checking account. Coming up -/-/- will be 12 months that I have had the account open. I was advised by the bank rep that it came up in their system that I owe Wells Fargo and that they submitted information to - that shows I mismanaged an account with them. The concern is that if I mismanaged an account with them. Then why would they allow me to open another account with them after reporting this information. Basicly its telling other banks not to do business with me, but it 's ok for me to do business with them after they have reported this negative information. They are also reporting a balance after I paid the account off in 2014. The information they are reporting remains in - for 7 years and will limit you from obtaining a standard checking account instead of a second chance checking account.
