I checked my credit report with Experian before going to buy a car. I thought it was only - dollar to check with the understanding that annual credit reports are free. They charged me a recurring $21.00 fee. When I called they would only refund - month. The Experian website is highly misleading and gets people checking their credit to inadvertently sign up for recurring credit monitoring charges.
