I have a gold amex that was issued with no annual fee. After the first year, I was billed an annual fee. I contacted amex and the switched cards but never refunded the annual fee ( after promising to do so ) and added a late fee. After 5 phone calls, I was advised a rep accidentally switched me to a gold - employees card and they were not able to verify employment so the fee had not been refunded. I advised the rep I am not a - employee and have never been. I am still waiting for the annual fee and late fee to be waived.
