U.S. Bancorp Credit card department,
Advertising and marketing New York
US bank advertises offers for business credit cards on their website and other affiliate sites. On - - 2015 I applied for a business credit card and a week later I received a rejection noticed with the following cited as the cause : Residence is outside of trade area ''. I contacted US Bank and inquired about what this meant, the representative said that it means they have no branches in this area. I asked why then I get offers from their bank mailed to me. The representative indicated, that if the application had been submitted in response to a mailed offer '' they would have processed the application, but because I went on their website instead, the application had been rejected. I believe that the merchant 's practice is deceptive. When an application is completed on their website they collect ALL my information, including address and phone numbers. If as a bank they do not review applications from customers located outside a specific area, they should not be allowed to send their mailings to such area and they should not be collecting sensitive information without first ensuring the applicant can be serviced by them. ( all it takes is an address script to be ran on their website and for the first information data set to be the address ) Anyway, the public should know upfront if they have service area restrictions, instead of pretending they can serve all areas.
