Vehicle loan Problems when you are unable to pay Florida

In -/-/-, I had a car on loan with Consumer Portfolio Services. After medical and subsequently financial reasons, I could no longer keep the car. In late -/-/-, after continued harrassment and threatening calls from CPS to me, my parents and friends, I agreed to give up the car. I was paying CPS $450.00 per month, which exceed the value of the car and loan amount. There were times when I was late, but was always able to catch up. CPS sold the car for approximately $5400.00 ( which would indicate the mint condition of the car ). CPS starting contacting me, my parents and friends again stating that I now owed them $8000.00 more. I finally ended up changing my telephone number, but my parents are still called with scare tactics as if they are personal friends of mine and something has happened. My mother has called several times worried until I was able to calm her down. I recently pulled my credit report and discovered that CPS is falsely showing that I was paying them $47.00 per month in order to keep the account open. I am not able to purchase another car as my credit report reflects that CPS are still holding the account open four years after selling the car. I pray that something can be done regarding this matter. I appreciate your consideration.
