Portfolio Recovery Services has continued to pursue me over a credit card debt that along with many other was discharged in a bankruptcy proceeding. I have disputed the $660.00 claim numerous times through the credit bureaus and PRS continues to provide false statements as to the validity of the debt. I am trying to buy a new home and at the advisement of my lender, decided to pay the debt in order to bolster my credit rating. Even though I have paid the debt in full ( which I believe strongly to be bogus ), they have not properly reported the collection as closed '' to the credit bureaus and continue to report it as an open balance of $660.00 and continue to call me to pay the debt. I recently read that this company ( Portfolio Recovery ) was ordered to pay back - of dollars due to unethical practices, which lead me to file this complaint as I believe I am also a victim.
