False statements or representation Attempted to collect wrong amount Rhode Island
I received a letter from Commonwealth Financial Systems stating that I owed money to : - - - Services in the amount of -. The letter stated that they had purchased the account and if I considered the debt valid they requested payment. They further stated that if I failed to let them know in 30 days that I disputed the validity of the debt they would consider the debt valid. They also called to request payment and asked for last - digits of my SSN. I told them I do not give out information on the phone. They have a spot on the letter for you to fill out your credit card information and offer - automated payment. They push hard for payment and are hoping you just pay it right away without taking the time to research it. Obviously, - - - is not a real company and the debt was not owed but they sure make you feel like it is.
