GE Capital Retail Credit card department,
I applied for a private label credit card in store ( -- -, CA ) funded through Synchrony Financial ( formerly GE ). I received a promotional APR of 0 % for 6 months. The transaction was made on - - in order to take advantage of the - - special offers. Eleven Days later, on - -, I received my card in the mail ... along with a bill. I immediately called Synchrony Financial to find out where the mistake had been made. Here in lies the Regulation Z violation. My payment is scheduled for - - which allows me ONLY 14 days to look over the bill as opposed to the mandatory 21 days allotted in the verbiage of Regulation Z : ( ( 1 ) Periodic statements are mailed or delivered at least 21 days prior to the payment due date disclosed on the statement pursuant to 226.7 ( b ) ( 11 ) ( i ) ( A ) ). I have contacted Synchrony Financial and spoken to their legal department. They were unapologetic and would not work with me to remedy their blatant error. Which financial institution would set a payment due date for a new customer a mere 23 days after the initial opening of the account? Logically speaking this is a terrible business practice and Synchrony Financial needs to overhaul their business rules. Please help me hold Synchrony Financial accountable to the laws and regulations surrounding the legal collection of consumer debt.
