Bank of America Credit card department,
Credit card protection / Debt protection California
We had CC protection on a CC from BofA so if I lost my job it would continue to be paid. It was an insurance policy. All of my other CC 's froze the account and payments where made from the insurance to keep my credit good while I was unemployed. BofA decided to immediately move the interest rate from 7 % to 29 % for no reason other than they could see I was unemployed. The insurance kicked in and instead of the payments making a dent into the principal it all went to their interest since it was now so high. We called and they said they could do this since I was unemployed yet we never missed a payment or made a late payment. We decided to close the account and refused to continue paying them. A - later they decided to settle the account for $.00 on the dollar but by then my credit was ruined. No other CC did this practice of raising the interest, just BofA. And yet our government bailed them out ... .how wrong is that.
