GE Capital Retail Credit card department,
I have an account with Synchrony Bank for purchases at Amazon.com. I have the account on auto/recurring payments. Last month, instead of paying the minimum, I increased the monthly recurring payment amount and was told that this would be immediately effective since I was already setup on recurring payments. My payment was due on -/-/2016. I logged in today and saw that the payment was not made and that I had additionally been charged a $25.00 late fee. I called customer service and they told me that there was nothing that I could do, because I was late. The CSR was extremely rude and told me that I was late, despite the fact that I was on recurring payments. I engaged a CSR on chat who was able to waive the late chargein 24 - 48 hours. However, I wanted to file a complaint because I thought that this was an unethical practice and I asked for a specific name to send the complaint to. She would not provide the name - gave me a - - - and then told me to send it to 'manager '. - - was the CSR. I can only imagine how many people have been charged a $25.00 late fee for the same reason. It is unethical and unscrupulous and the practice needs to stop.
