I attempted to make the minimum payment to my credit card company. Somehow the payment was entered as the entire statement balance which I can not afford and will cause severe financial problems for my family. I contacted the credit card company immediately when I read the confirmation email to stop the payment. The representative was extremely rude and unhelpful saying that there is no way the website could have an error and there is no way for them to stop the payment. I called back later and spoke with someone more polite who said there is no way to stop the payment and it 's in the disclosure - the teeny tiny print that no one looks at. I honestly thought I clicked minimum payment and can not believe that they wo n't reverse the charge. I 'm current and was even paying a week ahead of time. I called my bank to stop payment on the American Express payment and they will for - bucks but it could happen after Amex charges me and then I am stuck with the massive charge that will cause my car loan, electric bill, gas bill, other credit card payment, water bill, car insurance, etc to all find insufficient funds in my bank account and I 'll no doubt get a $35.00 fee for each instance that I can not afford to pay. I am absolutely dumbfounded that Amex ca n't work with me when a mistake was made and the result will be a financial nightmare for - of their customers.
