We got behind in our mortgage last year when I lost my job. I was told we did not qualify for a loan modification payment plan because our debt to income ratio did not qualify. We got back on our feet and paid the current payment but still had a past due balance. Again asked Wells Fargo if we would qualify for loan modification and was denied because we are no longer in hardship. But we had better debt to income ratio. We also have a VA loan and they did not tell us about any government programs that may have helped us. I was told because we have a VA loan it is a guaranteed loan and they can not work with us like they can with other loans. We are starting bankrupsy now to save our home. Our lawyer told us about a government program that may negotiate with Wells Fargo. No help from our bank.
