GE Capital Retail Credit card department,
On -/-/-, I requested a credit limit increase on my - - store card managed by Synchrony Bank. I did so using the automated phone system, which asked for my annual income, monthly rent, and desired credit limit. I then found out that Synchrony Bank performed a hard pull on my credit report despite never having obtained authorization from me to do so, either written or verbally, or even informing me that they would do so at any point during the increase request process. I complained on -/-/-, and the agent told me that the authorization is in my Account Agreement. No language in the Agreement concerns hard pulls, but when I mentioned this, the agent told me soft pulls had been done away with in -/-/- and that all pulls were now hard ones, which is also not true. When I further disputed her asserted facts, she told me she had been doing the same job for 15 years and knew what she was doing. In short, Synchrony Bank refuses to acknowledge they illegally performed a hard pull of my credit report.
