I was living with my parents about 8years ago and we moved into an apartment together. I moved out 6 years ago and turned over the paperwork that I moved out and my parents would be only people living at that residence. 2 years after I moved out my parents fell on hard times and unfortunately could n't afford the - bedroom rent at this complex. They were - from this place for back rent owed. I was unaware at that time that this company never removed me from the leasing agreement as the old complex manager left the company and never forwarded the paperwork to the office ( or did ) I do n't know. I saw on my credit report that they are going after me for this debt in which i was n't living at this location and had a new contract for several years with my current landlord. I called Rent Recover a couple years back to get this taken care of and sent them my current leasing agreement, etc. They never contacted me back and I did n't think anything about it until recently when I 'm trying to get a mortgage for a house.
well and they wo n't do anything either. I am not sure if they never received the information that I was n't living at this residence or had knowledge and decided to ignore it and seek payment from anyone. Rent Recovered refused today -/-/15 to release the validity of the debt to me and would no longer help me unless I pay the balance. One thing I left out, they removed the collection from my credit report on -/-/15 and reissued it on -/-/15 as a new debt with c/o owners on it. I have that documentation. I confronted them about it today and he pushed it off as a mistake by the credit report agency. I 'm stuck between a rock and a hard place and do n't know what my rights are and where should I go from here. Could you help me or direct me to someone who could help?
