In 2013 I was having some trouble making all the required payments on my consumer loans. I contacted American Express to discuss arranging a payment plan. I realized that I had accumulated a large number of points on my - Amex card, that I also hoped could be used as a credit towards paymrnts. I was initially told this would be ok, THEN I was told it would only be OK if I made a large payment immediately on the card. I felt bullied into the transaction, and complied because I wanted to keep my points balance and keep the card open. After the payment, Anerican Express refused to honor the points balance and closed the card.
