LoanDepot Mortgage department,
FHA mortgage Credit decision / Underwriting California
Last year my husband and I bought a house. The loan was done through -. When did applied for the FHA loan we were told by the loan officer - -, that we qualified for a Mortgage Credit Certificate based on being a first time home buyer, credit income and income requirements. A year later as we are doing our taxes we realized we never received the MCC certificate. Later after investigation we find out the loan officer never processed the MCC application with the loan. Therefore, now every year we file we can not claim that tax credit which is 20 % of your annual mortgage interest will be a direct federal tax credit, resulting in a dollar-for-dollar reduction of your annual federal income tax liability.
