GE Capital Retail Credit card department,
Synchrony Bank contacted me as a result of a complaint I filed last week. My complaint dealt with how they allocated all of the additional payment on my Care Credit account to the interest-bearing purchase and none to the soon-to-expire promotional purchases. I had to call - to get the allocation changed which took about - minutes each time. When the representative called me, she explained that the legislation passed in - required them to allocate any overpayment to the balance with the highest interest. Since the promotional payments had no interest if paid off in time, they had to credit the interest bearing purchase. I believe this is a technicality or interpretation that Synchrony has made that enables them to profit from the accrued interest on interest-free promotional purchases and was definitely not the intent of - when the consumer protection legislation was passed.
