On a - -, - -, 2015, I was away - miles away from home. I need to get cash to put gas in my car, but unfortunately my debit card did not work and I tried to use my American Express Optima Card. The card did n't work at the gas station because it has low balance and usually gas stations block $150.00 in order to use the card. I called American Express and requested to get cash back and a pin ( received the pin ) or extra emergency cash so that I an get home safely and put gas in my car. The American express representative told me that if I tell her the exact address where I was, she will provide emergency cash. I left the car and went to the nearest cafe to ask for exact address and zip code. When I called American Experss back, they refused to provide assistance with even $20.00 cash. So I had to use strangers ' help in order to get home safely on - -. I am very upset and disappointed in lies of American Express representatives who put me through enormous stress and emotional distress and danger on the road. Yesterday, - -, an American Express rep called me and assured me that he was going to call me today with a possible resolution and he did n't call back. What American Express did was a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act - deceiving customers. I had to write a $200.00 check to strangers to help me to get home, while American Express deceived me and did n't provide promised assistance and this assistance is in the credit card agreement.
